Questions we get asked
How much does a gate motor cost in Cape Town?
A sliding gate motor supplied and installed starts around R4,500, including two remotes. Swing gate motors, heavier estate gates and installations that need new brackets or a rack cost more. The survey and quote are free.
Will the gate still open during load shedding?
Yes. Every motor we install includes battery backup, so the gate keeps working through a power cut. How many cycles you get depends on the battery and the weight of the gate, and we size it for your gate rather than fitting the smallest one that fits.
Sliding or swing motor, which do I need?
It depends on the gate you already have. Sliding gates run on a rack along the gate and need clear space to slide into. Swing gates use arm or ram motors on the posts. If you are replacing the gate too, we will talk through which suits the driveway.
Can you repair a motor rather than replace it?
Often, yes. Most failures we see are worn racks, failed batteries, burnt limit switches or a control board that has taken a surge, and those are all repairs. If the motor itself is finished we will tell you straight rather than charging for a repair that will not last.
Do you fit safety beams?
Yes, and we recommend them on every installation. Beams stop the gate closing on a car, a pet or a child. Anti-crush sensing on the motor helps but beams are what actually catch something in the gateway.
How many remotes do I get?
Two are included with a standard installation. Extra remotes, keypads and intercom integration can be added, and we can usually code new remotes to a motor that is already installed.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward sliding gate motor is typically half a day, including fitting the rack, setting the limits and pairing the remotes. Swing gates and installations needing new brackets or electrical work take longer.
Can you integrate the gate with an intercom?
Yes. We can wire the motor to an intercom so visitors can be let in from inside the house, and set it up alongside a camera at the gate if you want to see who is there.
